CLOWN UNIT The Bektash Shrine Clowns are a parading unit. In addition to the Shrine events, we lend ourselves out to municipalities, organizations and other fraternal orders to participate in their parades, old home day celebrations and other community events. For this service we request a donation to be made to the Bektash Shrine Clown unit. In turn, the Bektash Shrine Clown Unit makes donations at the beginning of the next year to the 3 closest Shrine Hospitals: Boston Burns, Springfield MA. and Montreal QC. We also make a donation to the Sneaker Fund, along with other donations from all the other clown units throughout the country, helps to fund research for burns treatments and cosmetics for the burned children. We also do smaller events where we provide a minimum of 2 clowns for a minimum of 2 hours to do balloon twisting, provide hand outs and generally entertain the kids of all ages for the time frame. Because of the behind the scenes costs, there is a minimum donation. This donation also is put towards the donations that we make each year minus the costs of supplies. Though we request donations, all our clowns are volunteers and none of our clowns are paid for the services that we provide.
