Boston Shriners Hospital

The Shriners Hospital in Boston is a 30-bed pediatric burn hospital providing comprehensive acute care and reconstructive and rehabilitative care to children who have been burned. A brand-new hospital was recently constructed in Boston to replace the old facility. There is no charge to the patient or family for any of the medical care or services provided by Shriners Hospitals. This hospital is one of 22 Shriners Hospitals throughout North America. The Boston Hospital is equipped and staffed to treat the following:

  • Acute burns
  • Patients needing plastic reconstructive or restorative surgery as a result of "healed" burns
  • Severe scarring, resulting in contractures or interfering with mobility of the limbs
  • Scarring and deformity of the face

Springfield Shriners Hospital

The Springfield Shriners Hospital for Children is a 40-bed pediatric orthopaedic hospital located in Springfield, Mass. Their state-of-the art teaching and research facility is dedicated to providing the best medical care available to children who have problems of the bones, joints and muscles.

Springfield Shriners Hospital is one of 22 Shriners Hospitals located throughout North America: 18 provide orthopaedic care, three provide burn care, and one is a combination orthopaedic/burn hospital. Care is provided at no cost to children from birth to their 18th birthday, and it is not necessary to know a Shriner to receive care. The hospitals are privately funded, receiving no payments from families, insurance companies, or government agencies.

Shriners Hospital-Canada

 

The Shriners Hospital Canada is a 40-bed pediatric orthopaedic hospital providing comprehensive orthopaedic care to children from Canada and the North Eastern United States. The hospital is one of 22 Shriners Hospitals throughout North America. The Shriners Hospital for Children (Canada) accepts and treats children with routine and complex orthopaedic problems, utilizing the latest treatments and technology available in pediatric orthopaedics, resulting in early ambulation and reduced length of stay. It hosts two major orthopaedic research facilities, Genetics and Joint Diseases. They have been at the origin of several major breakthroughs, not the least of which is the development of a treatment for Osteogenesis Imperfecta that is changing the lives of children and their families around the world. An active partner in the Quebec Health Care system, the Canadian hospital is funded in part by the Government of Quebec that by law, is obligated to care for and treat all children needing service.

Tampa Shriners Hospital

The Tampa Shriners Hospital, Located on the University of South Florida campus, is a 60-bed facility that has treated over 27,000 children with orthopaedic problems since opening in 1985. As you can see in the photo (move cursor over hospital photo), we have just celebrated our re-birth and re-dedication with a renovations and expansion project that has created 30,000 square feet of new space and 15,000 square feet of renovated space.

The primary goal of the project is to enhance our existing facilities to provide the best care possible for the children and families that we serve. Most of the areas in the hospital that are seeing improvements directly benefit our children with orthopaedic problems, and their families.
